Going Up the Trail for the First Time

$7,500.00

Everyone has to “start” somewhere.
This sculpture is of a nine-year-old whose dream to be a cowboy
has come true.
He’s gotten the OK to accompany a “seasoned” cowboy crew on a trail drive
of 2500 head of Texas cattle from San Antonio to the Blackfoot Agency in Montana;
a drive that will lasts 5 months on the trail in 1883.
He is on an old XIT branded horse that has been up the trail many times before.
His Texas Mother Hubbard saddle has seen better days and his grandma’s star quilt doubles as a bed roll and saddle blanket.
His outfit is a little shabby but to ask him, he’s proud to be on a real cowhorse and in style.
No matter what our occupation is today, we have all had the thrill and expectations of
Going Up the Trail for the First Time.
