In 1540, Coronado and Priest Fray Marcos De Niza, headed north from the interior of Mexico
to find the Seven Cities of Gold. They traveled through Arizona, New Mexico, the Texas panhandle
and up into Kansas with nearly three hundred Spanish soldiers and a thousand
natives from Mexico. They returned to Mexico empty-handed.
